Great Bay Area: Shenzhen & Guangzhou | 11 Days, 9 Nights
March 27 – April 6, 2027

Join Little Panda for a trip to Shenzhen and Guangzhou, two cities in China’s Greater Bay Area. Designed for students and families, the programme combines university visits, technology, local history, food, and hands-on cultural activities.

There is plenty for both adults and children to enjoy, whether you are interested in new technology, curious about education in China, or keen to experience Cantonese culture.

Why Shenzhen and Guangzhou?

In Shenzhen, we will visit Southern University of Science and Technology, meet local university students, and explore Huaqiangbei’s electronics markets. We will see how drones and 3D printers are used and learn how the city turns waste into electricity. Visits to Dapeng Fortress and Shekou Cruise Homeport will introduce us to Shenzhen’s coastal history and its connections with the wider world.

In Guangzhou, we will explore historic neighbourhoods, traditional architecture, and Cantonese opera. We will make shrimp dumplings and scented sachets, visit museums and trading markets, ride the driverless APM, and enjoy an evening cruise on the Pearl River.

What will we do?

✨ See technology in use — learn about drone delivery, 3D printing, driverless transport, and waste-to-energy systems.

✨ Visit a Chinese university — talk with students and take part in planned lab visits and robot-dog activities, subject to university arrangements.

✨ Explore local markets — compare products, ask questions, and consider which ideas might be useful back home.

✨ Try Cantonese food and crafts — make shrimp dumplings and scented sachets, and learn about the traditions behind them.

✨ Practise Chinese along the way — students who want to improve their Chinese will have support and opportunities to speak during visits, meals, shopping, and other daily activities.

✨ Spend time discovering things together — try something new as a family and hear what others make of the places we visit.

For students and families

Adults and children often notice different things in the same place. The trip gives everyone something to explore, with teachers and guides on hand to explain, answer questions, and help with activities.

For students, the programme also includes a group video and a short project based on an idea they discover during the trip. They will consider who might use it back home and how they could test their idea.

Accommodation & support

We will stay in four-star hotels, mainly in twin rooms. Four teachers/guides will accompany the group, with approximately one staff member for every four participants. They will provide round-the-clock support, help coordinate the daily programme, and assist with practical needs.
